About

Like many of my generation, I grew up eating home cooked meals lovingly prepared by my mum and grandmothers. They were just simple dishes prepared in our small HDB kitchens, nowhere near the standards of restaurant fancy fare but comfort food nonetheless that reminded me of home. There was a period of time when I frequent dine out, restaurant hopping and venturing into other cuisines but as I grew older, I find myself returning back to my roots, yearning ever more for those nostalgic tastes and aromas of my childhood and growing up years…

I began cooking more and more at home, retracing the days spent with my mum and grandma in the kitchen when they were still around, and revisiting familiar old dishes whose “recipes” were “taught” merely through helping out in the kitchen and observing along the way. Learning to cook was informal yet fully hands on and experiential at the same time.
